Contacts

This is a private reference site, not a Dougherty County government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, release an inmate, post bond, schedule jail services, or retrieve official booking records. Use the official contacts below for custody status, records, courts, and corrections questions.

Where to Ask for the Record You Need

Dougherty County jail questions usually start with the jail or the Sheriff's Office, while court, state-prison, federal, and immigration records use different offices.

Main jail phone: 229-430-6500
Jail Intake: 229-430-6531

Dougherty County Sheriff's Office

225 Pine Avenue
Albany, GA 31701

Main office: 229-302-3600
Warrants/Civil: 229-302-3605

Open Records

Email sheriff and jail open-record requests to DCJF@dougherty.ga.us.

The P2C FAQ identifies Lt. Shirley Adams as Open Records Officer and says requests are processed Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Clerk and Court Records

Dougherty County Clerk of Court: 229-431-2198. Use the Clerk for court case access and formal court-record questions after a booking.

Use the list below to match the question to the right route.

  • For someone believed to be in the county jail, start with jail inmate records, then call the jail or Jail Intake if the roster does not answer the question.
  • For booking-photo questions, review jail roster mugshots and submit a records request to the Sheriff's Office when a legitimate record copy is needed.
  • For charges filed after arrest, use court records after a jail arrest and contact the Clerk at 229-431-2198 for case-record access.
  • For a facility-specific question, use the Dougherty County Jail page linked in the footer for address, phone, and local custody context.
  • For a sentenced Georgia prisoner, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender locator rather than the county jail roster.
  • For federal custody, use the BOP inmate locator for sentenced federal prisoners and the U.S. Marshals Middle District/Albany route for federal pretrial questions when BOP has no result.
  • For immigration detention, use ICE ODLS. An ICE detainer or inquiry in a jail report does not mean ICE operates a Dougherty County detention facility.
  • For custody or release notifications, use Georgia V.I.P. or VINELink where the person and case are eligible for notification.
